Part One entered the subway graffiti movement in 1974 just after the foundation for piecing had been laid down. He began doing the bubble and mechanical styles of the era, and by 1975-6 he truly came into his own. From 1977 to 1980 few writers could compete with Part One and his TDS partners. These young men burned the subway lines from Brooklyn to the Bronx with their elaborately stylized letterforms and innovative color schemes. At the time Part One s aliases Fudge 357 and Worm 2 were seen on the trains in great abundance. Today, Part One continues to burn and is considered an original New York City style master. About the Author

KET is a publisher, writer, Hip Hop historian, activist and graffiti artist from New York City. While studying at New York University, he founded Stress, a publication celebrating urban communities, Hip Hop culture and educating youth about their rights. Alain s activism continued with the creation of programs for inmates in the Riker s Island Prison and the co-founding of the collective Black August. He co-founded Complex magazine with Marc Ecko, and started a publishing imprint, From Here To Fame, to preserve Hip Hop s rich history.

Graffiti artist YES2 was inspired by the images he saw painted on the cities subways and in its streets in the New York of the 1980’s. Giving in to his desire to join in on the beautiful destruction he began creating his own works in the streets using spray paint in 1986. Painting feverishly in NYC in the late 80’s, through the 90’s and into the new millennium, YES2 has become a well recognized and influential figure not only in his native NY but also in the global Graffiti community. Beginning travels abroad in 1996, the artist has painted in the streets of Holland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and Canada, as well as various cities in the U.S.

Known for what some call a typical NY style of graffiti lettering, the artist has fun continually re-inventing his style while still maintaining the signature aggressive, dynamic, and energetic graffiti look, with a pinch of wit and a sprinkle of ‘I don’t give a shit’. Never finding the time to slow down, YES2 continues to live in NYC and create his work in varying forms and on various surfaces throughout the world.
