These images are also facsimiles of the artist’s high school notebooks, utilizing a collage technique to rearrange the images contained with the notebooks the artist fiddled with the past. Once the collages are complete the artist created entirely new images to juxtapose with the notes and doodles already present in the notebooks. These new images are printed over the digital facsimiles of the notebooks using the very traditional printmaking media lithography. These are printed on the high quality 100% rag paper Somerset Velvet; the image is centered on the paper with a health white boarder surrounding the image.
The Full Metal Journals prints are digital printouts of Michael Krueger’s original high school notebooks with hand-drawn lithographic images printed over them. The notebooks are subtly manipulated in PhotoShop altering the surface to make room for a new image. The new images printed over the digital facsimiles of the notebooks are personal free associations combined with more directed images that conjure war, drug culture and early American history. The updated notebooks are rich with psychological dementia describing past and current cultural paranoia.
