Since 1984, Bronx-raised WANE one has been a lively participant in the Writers Movement. He was an active subway writer for many years and eventually made the transition from trains to walls in the early 1990s. He was part of the first wave of writers in the New York City post-subway scene, yet responsible for subway style murals on the streets.
As a member of the TC5/FC/COD collective, he has travelled the world collaborating with other great style masters in places like England, Japan, New Zealand, Italy, Sweden and Panama, to name a few. He is known for his crisp, unique letter style and for his consistency: painting when most writers from his generation have since stopped.
In the late 1980s, he made a transition to airbrushing at the now defunct Unique Boutique in NYCs Greenwich Village. It was alongside WEN, REAS, RELM and BABA that he honed his craft. He went on to art direct music videos and ultimately start his own clothing line, WRITER’S BENCH.
Today, he is a painter and has worked as a clothing designer for companies like Puma, Nike, Nintendo and Sean John. He continues to be an active member of the graffiti community.
