This crew was a critical factor in the survival of the art form in New York. They were active during the mid to late '80s when writing was believed to be dead. They continued to write when there was a strong buff and very few subway lines to write on. This critical time period saw few active writers. RIS and one or two other crews maintained enough energy in writing to create a new wave.
